Side note on the lugs.......good chance you'll see a felt wrapper around the inner springs. You'll want to remove the springs and inserts to get that felt off before you soak the lugs. It would be a brown color possibly. If so it's original. And can be reused if you like. Also be very carefull taking the lugs off. The holes can be a tight fit as original. If you wiggle them to get them loose you can snap the little nub off the back of the lug that seats it in the shell hole. The lugs are pot metal and can be fragile sometimes. Slow and steady wins the race.

Welcome to the forum!! :)

Glenn.

FFR428, I'll keep an eye out for those wrappers, thanks for the heads up. I'll make sure to take the lugs off slowly! I've done the same with my Corders and moving quickly does not give any good results... Thank you for the warm welcome! :)

Alright, I got a few pictures just to show the drums themselves. You can see how the lugs and hardware are kinda dull looking, but they should look great after the cleaning! Snare and bent hoop/split in rereing next.

I should make a correction: it's actually two splits which I should most definitely get fixed. The bent hoop isn't that big of a deal, that should be fixed quickly. Snare is in great shape and should turn out wonderfully!

Wonderful kit!! Like the birdseye maple on the snare re-rings. Once you have the dirt off the hardware, I've found Meguiar's Mag and Aluminum Polish the best on nickel plate hardware. Any auto parts store will have it.

Make sure you use cupcake tins or something to sort the small screws/nuts. Label which drum everything came from. Lot's of digital pictures from multiple angles. The snare is the hardest to keep the small nut's/screws sorted. Pictures, go slow, Research Past Posts. Hit a snag, stop and ask for help.

I'm in Parma Hts if you need any help. I've restored a few radio king kits in my days. Shoot me a PM and I'll pass my ph# along.
