I liked the original vibe of your Dad's drums, but they were rough to the point where someone would probably throw them out. All refurbed, with good heads, they're guaranteed to go another 50 years. is he goin' with WMP? How about red sparkle, like those Hollywoods in the background? Nice work, so far. We'll be watchin' for your next update......marko

Yeah buddy! They're getting WMP or the Aged WMP wrap. I'll keep y'all "posted" on the progress. Guess I shoulda started this thread on the "Restoring Vintage Drums" section. If the powers-to-be see fit to move this there, that would be great.Bowing

From makurtz

They're getting WMP or the Aged WMP wrap.

From what I keep reading here on the forum, the Continental pearl from Precision is the closest match to the old style marine pearl.

The chip pattern is very similar, but it is definitely "white" not mellow like the aged stuff. Hope that helps.

I've got samples of the WMP, Blue/WhiteMP & the Continental. The Cont has a kinda milky-tan tint to it, looks vintage I suppose. I'm waiting for an Aged WMP sample to come in the mail. The sample pictures on the websites just don't portray accurate enough to make a decision. It's not my intent that this particular drum set has to look "vintage". Definitly not museum pieces! Just wanna a nice restoration to the original look. If the Aged WMP looks too yellow or greenish to me, I'll most likely go the the plain'ol WMP or the Blue/White MP. The B/WMP has a slight icey-blue tint to it. Looks really cool IMO. The chip patterns in all the above-mentioned wraps look similair to the original wrap.

Makurtz:

I'm a big fan of the bluish white wrap. In the 1973 Slingy Catalog, there is a picture of Buddy Rich with his 73 Slingys in the bluish/white pearl. They look BEAUTIFUL!

So would your set. :)
