Yeah, I know... this is the second reply about this kit, but I have too... I was afraid that the kit would lose the 'mojo' from the rewrap... you know, just be another rewrapped Slingy kit. I was wrong. Your father has beat so much mojo in those things, and with the job you did, I'm sure you've invented a mojo multiplier here. Fair Warning: DO NOT ever put this kit very close to a lessor kit. Especially some weasel kit like cheap Tama's or Pearl's or something. The mojo in these would cause the others to burst into flames... fry right on the spot.Trust me, mojo exponentiation is not something to be tampered with.

I haven't visited this thread in awhile. Man, did you do some first class restoration job on the old man's drums! Any drummer would itch to sit behind that kit and play those beautiful old drums.

So, if I have some nasty rusted nickel hardware, then just soak them in dish soap water?

Thanks, deepsoulradio! I soak the parts in 100%, undiluted dish soap for at least 24 hours. Somtimes soak them for 2 to 3 days depending depending on condition. Don't think any certain brand of soap matters, but I prefere Ajax.

What a great job you have done on this set and for a even greater reason... I love everything you did except the rims mount and the tom on a cymbal stand that just can not be to stable if you really get to rockin but in any case the set looks awesome....

Actually, the stand holds pretty solid. Besides, Dad doesnt get into a lot of heavy rock'in, LOL. Thanks, guys for all the kind words!

Man it is good to revisit this thread. Fantastic work.

I use RIMS mounts on all my kits except the Yamaha with the YESS mounts. Mike T, why would you assume they are unstable? I have the heaviest of players playing my kits that break everything but no issues with the isolation mounts or stability on stands.
