Man it is good to revisit this thread. Fantastic work. I use RIMS mounts on all my kits except the Yamaha with the YESS mounts. Mike T, why would you assume they are unstable? I have the heaviest of players playing my kits that break everything but no issues with the isolation mounts or stability on stands.

Same here! Exactly, except I'm the only one playing my kits. But no stability problems at all.

I tried them one time and they flopped all over the place I don't think the tom ever stopped moving and a cymbal stand with weight out to the side is not in any way shape or form a stable platform, same with hanging a floor tom IMO just a gimmick, but looking at that beautiful kit it just some how does not go with the vibe of vintage but hey just my opinion it don't mean a thing.... as long as pop is happy all is good.

First time I have seen this thread. Great job! I am also 73 years old, and wish I had a son like you! LOL! Just about to take on a restore project with my Oaklawn Camcos. Have to do it myself though.

A 'working drummer's' kit. After 50 years, that is exactly what it's supposed to look like.I wouldn't touch them. After you're gone, let the next guy rehab them. Those drums have too much history and mojo and... they are your dad's drums. Keep them safe and sound and just as they are. After the old man is gone, you'll be glad you didn't alter them.Love the wrench dangling from a shoelace... great stuff.John
