I think I would like to build a kit. I have looked into a way to speed up the aging process. If I can afford the shells, I am going to age them this summer and start the build later in the year. If you store the shells in high heat and humidity, it will add a few years. Not much, but some aging takes place. After the aging I want to put together a set consisting of 20-12-14-16. Maybe adding a 13 tom, as well, and if so, that would leave enough drops from the shells to make at keast 2-14" snares, and one each 12&13. So a 12, 13 & 14 piccolo, and 14x5. I am thinking either 4 or 5 ply all maple shells. I really don't want m100% maple, but buying anything else is really going to get too expensive. I wish Keller made a maple/maple/mahogany, but they only offer it to the big guys. And since that ain't me...well, maybe our friend could get them for me. Anyway, that would be my desire. And I really like the reproduction Beavertails. So this would be a kit of my desires. In order to buy what I want, it would take too much searching and piecing together orphans and then the wraps not matching...you know how that can be.
Jonni's been bitten by the builder bug.............. it's all over now...
