Thanks again!
Those guys were super loud. I did the rimshot-all-the-time thing a la Bill Bruford, to cut through. I've always played the snare that way for loud music because of him and Bonham. I loved that Acrolite.
I wonder if anyone here hits the snare in the middle for loud music. We could have a pretty good fight about that in a different thread...:)
Mitch
More Acro's... I know they're out there!

June 19, 1970 - Blank Badge with hand scribed serial number. Referenced on page 19 of the Ludwig Dating Guide by Richard Gier. Tombstone case and Ludwig stand too. By the condition of the batter head, the previous owner really played this drum, but they also took really good care of it.
I also have the purchase receipt from the original owner.

i haven't had the chance to play the blacro yet but have played
the one from john and absolutely love it. i'll give the blacro a good
workout later this evening, got a sleeping baby right now.
Got a drum dial tuner for christmas. So nice to put a finite number to a tuning!! Anyway, cranked my 1967 Acro up to 90 on the batter and 80 on the reso. Loving the crack! I'm sure it's over the top tight for most, but you can always throw the wallet down on the batter to soften the sound. That was someone heres advice to me at one time, and it really works. Yes - I'm an Acro lover - have supraphonics, super sensitives and classic maples, but that Acro is sweet and low maintenance.:)
All of this Acro praise hasn't gone unnoticed by the folks at Ludwig. What once was their affordable snare for students now goes for well over $300 a pop. Over $400 for the 6.5"
We should close our big mouths :)
Tim - That's a really nice drum! Great condition.
robyn - Ahhh, the addiction begins! That snare drum stack will grow and grow as the years pass.
larryz - The old stuff can still be had for right around $100. If they jack the prices too high they'll only be competing against themselves! :p
drummer2012 - No photo, it doesn't exist! Post up a shot of your Acro!

Here is my 68ish Acrolite! Easily my favorite snare. So easy to tune and just sound fantastic every time smack it! Got it with a set of 65 BDP Club dates! Love love love this snare!!!

I also have this 70's Acro that came with my WMP Roundbadge a while back but haven't had a chance to clean it up and play it yet. I'm sure it rocks as well!
