Just a quick note on this. First I want to thank Gary and Wayne for the scans each of them sent me. Nice and clear and should work well.

Now to my question..... It seems the original tags were yellow with some type of a reinforcment around the hole. The size 6 1/4" x 3 1/8". I found from Uline the same size tag and color seems close. The Uline tags look reinforced around the holes but it different than the original tags. My problem is I'm having a hard time trying to replicate/find the original style reinforcement. I can get the Uline tags and proceed with them as is. Or if anyone has any ideas on the original style reinforment please chime in. Here's a pic of the Uline tags I can buy. My plan was to get plain tags and imprint them on press. It's a 13pt stock which is pretty beefy. I'll try to included the tie wire but can't promise that. I can't run any metal (tie wire) through the press. If everyone is cool with these style tags I'll order them. Unless someone can source something better/closer to original. Please chime in with thoughts and opinions please!! Thanks!

Glenn: looks real close, to my eye. The slight variation in color is due to the age of the original, I suspect. These should age nicely, too, in about 46 years....Thanks for the follow-thru. Look forward to the finished product!

Thanks Hugh. Yes hopefully they will be ok. The color didn't look like buff or manillia. It could be but I'm not sure? The hole reinforcement looks like a rounded off rectangle foldover maybe. That would just be glued on. I can't tell from the scans if they foldover the top of the tag or are 2 pieces 1 on each side. Once I find that detail out I can make some out of the extra tags.

Glenn - PM sent...

Gentlemen - I am sending Glenn some $ to help defray any costs for materials, ink, his time etc. He should not have to pay one penny out of pocket to do this for us. If 'just a few' of the guys getting tags contribute a few bucks each, Glenn won't have to spend a penny. I really appreciate the favor he's doing for us and the effort he's putting into it.

* Gelnn - Please don't start the "I don't need anything, I'm glad to do it" stuff. This is something I want to help out with and I'm sure a couple of others will want to chip-in too. At least let us pay for materials, you can contribute your labor. Thanks bud, hope I haven't embarrassed you.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

The reinforcement, to my eyeball, looks like a secondary piece of the tag stock, folded over with the corners chamfered, and glued to the original tag, and finished off with a tiny brass grommet on the ID of the hole. The OP could verify this easily enough by looking at his original tag.

The tags you have may be just peachy. I have never seen a dyna in person, so I have no opinion on that. I just thought I would chime in on the brass grommet thing so that perhaps searching for grommeted tags may provide an exact match, if it comes to that???

John many thanks. I sent you a PM back and what I can really use your help on. That would be huge if you can help. I planned on spending a few bucks on this, it's ok. It's not much and my printing materials (plates, ink) are free for me. The cost of the tags is pretty small and the shop I work for get's a nice discount too. So it's cool. The labor..... well it's something I enjoy doing and it's a fun project. And thanks for your offer it's really means alot!
