Original 1967 Dynasonic Instruction Tag Last viewed: 50 seconds ago

Does anybody else have any rare 'paperwork' that came with drums in the past? Reproducing rare cards, brochures, and catalogs only takes having an original copy to work from and the will to do it. With the tools graphics guys have today, (like my Mac that's loaded up the wazoo with graphics applications,) -nothing- is 'impossible' to reproduce.

Just a thought... we have a printer/drummer production team in-house! Could be the birth of a small cottage business preserving old drum-related literature! :p

Mike Curotto - Have you encountered any rare drum-related literature in your journeys?

Hi John-you guys have been awesome on this Rogers tag project.I`ve also got a 1979/80 Black Beauty b/o badge tag. It`s a cleaning instruction yellow tag similar to the Rogers but smaller and only printed on one side.I already sent a scan of it to Glenn with dimensions when i sent the Rogers scan.So he`s got a pretty clean scan of it to work from.I`ll post a pic on here to see if there`s interest.Won`t be as clear as the scan i sent Glenn but at least it`s readable. Can`t seem to upload my scans of these cards from photobucket to the VDF for some reason? Many thanks for your amazing work John.

Good idea John! I had been talking a bit with Wayne about doing the Ludwig tag he has. I figured I'd get these done and see how everyone likes them and then decide which projects to tackle next. I'm up for it if you are. And suggestions are welcome.

Mike Curotto would be the guy to consult on something like this. If anyone knows which drums came with tags or paperwork, Mike will know. Maybe even have a few rare items himself.

I'm game, Glenn. If it means restoring an old printed piece, or saving it from extinction, like you, I'm a journeyman printer by trade and it would be a fun, worthwhile project to do. I'm in!

May I make a suggestion?

If possible, I think the word 'repro' should be placed on whatever is being reproduced. These hang tags and booklets etc will get around, and eventually be touted as being an original part of a drum. The marking can be small and unobtrusive, but it should be there.

Just a thought...

Guys: without getting long-winded as to the pros and cons, I think Dan's suggestion is a valuable one to maintain the integrity of the market. John/Glenn:is this simple to accomplish?

It's a real pain in the a$$ to have to re-do all the press-ready graphics files/scans that I created for Glenn, but it can be done. To answer your question though, no, it's not 'simple' to accomplish. it involves altering, then remaking, all the final scans that I sent to Glenn.

Dan, I only wish you would have thought of this -while- I was working on the job! Not -after- it's in the can and ready to go. It's a good catch on your part and a valid thing to do, but it's 'a day late and a dollar short' for me if you know what I mean.

Nothing like having 20/20 hindsight eh?

Glenn, do you want me to go back in and alter/re-do all the final scans? Your call, brother.

Sorry. I revisited the thread and the idea just came to me. The discussion of cleaning them up and making them perfect triggered my concern.

Dan, not at all! You are absolutely correct and I acknowledged in my post that it was a 'good catch' on your part. A 'valid' critique. I just wish you'd seen it a week ago when I was actually working on the printing job. Adding one word is easy, comping and re-doing all the scans for printing is what takes time.

WHERE WERE YOU LAST WEEK! Mind Blowi LOL

John, Dan, Wayne, Hugh this has been in the back of my head since I decided to do them. As it's a valid concern of mine too. I didn't want to see these on eBay being sold as the real deal either. Savy guys "know" but the rest of us not so much. I was also torn some may feel it would ruin the piece also. So I was going to ask everyone before I ran them their thoughts and concerns on the subject. But since it's come up....LOL.

John no need to re-do anything on your end buddy I can add something here no problem. I do need to ask you something off line so I'll send you a email asap.
